Jablanac was originally populated on the coast of the Velebit Channel. Mountain cottage is located on the coast under the town, in elevation 200 m, the way to Velebit start right there.
The first information about Jabanec as a king’s city Albana is from year 1179. A cape in front of the port features the ruins of a fortified mediaeval town, founded in 1251. On the cemetery is the church of St. Nicholas, which existed already in 1179. It got its present aspect in the 16th century.
The interest bay Zavratnica is narrow and 1km long. In surrounding are located big rocks, and they are on the west winds.
